How does it work?

With distinct social circles, BensonsLife enables you to share what you want with whom you want. Have a real-world group that could use an online gathering place? The BensonsLife Communities suite provides customizable access to group calendars, discussion boards and photo galleries – for both open/public and closed/private groups. Create and join as many groups as you’d like.

Want to share personal photos of your family with only your family and friends on BensonsLife? That’s what your Circle is designed to be – the group of people you give permissions to view your BensonsLife profile and photo gallery. They’ll receive an update when you’ve added something new and can leave you notes, send you messages and invite you to events (you can do the same with them, too).

With extensive privacy controls, you can rest assured that what you share is limited to those you invite to your Circle or Communities.

Who can use BensonsLife?

BensonsLife is for anyone and everyone to use (however, you must be over age 13 to register for an account).

BensonsLife offers tools for groups to seamlessly connect, organize and communicate. Community features were designed for groups, youth sports teams, community organizations, neighborhoods and other “real world” communities to converge and coordinate online. Plus, you’ll enjoy all the benefits of the “personal” side of BensonsLife, with a profile, dynamic photo gallery, events calendar and profile noteboard to share with those in your Circle.

BensonsLife is great for families – moms, dads, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpas – and everybody else in your life – friends, neighbors, colleagues, classmates, etc. Unlike other social networks, you won’t see a bunch of “junk” messages and updates from people you don’t care to hear from. With BensonsLife, you have full control over your notifications.

How much does it cost?

BensonsLife is completely free to use. There are no hidden costs and no limits to the size of your account. Too good to be true, you ask? Our mission at BensonsLife is to help people families and communities stay connected. We want to make this as easy as possible for you and we don’t think you should pay to do so. Other services may charge you for space for your stuff or a subscription fee. We will have none of that on BensonsLife!

What’s the difference between my Circle and Communities?

Your Circle: your select group of family and friends on BensonsLife who receive notifications when you add new content and are part of your personal sharing circle.

BensonsLife Communities: a directory of communities, groups, organizations, and organizers that use the customizable group features of BensonsLife to organize members in a safe, virtual, perpetual meeting space.

Can I join BensonsLife Communities in addition to creating my own?

Absolutely! You can browse for BensonsLife Communities to join using the group name or category, or search for Communities using keywords.

If the group is open (no padlock next to the name), then you may join without needing to be admitted by the Community moderator. If the Community is closed, you may request an invitation from the Community moderator.

Can I create Community for just people I choose, or does it have to be open to everyone on BensonsLife?

We want groups using BensonsLife Communities to have as much flexibility as they do in real life.

As the Community moderator, you may choose if you want to create an “open” or “closed” Community. A “closed” Community is one that requires new members to be approved by you before being admitted; an “open” Community is open to any BensonsLife members and doesn’t require approval.

Can my Community members contribute to the group, or is it just up to the Community moderator to add pictures, events and discussion topics?

When creating or editing the Community, the moderator can indicate if other Community members can post to the Community meeting space. If so, you will see an “add” button next where you may contribute in the Community. These permissions can be changed anytime.

How many friends can I invite to my Circle?

There is no limit to the number of people you can have in your Circle. Inviting friends is fast and easy; provide their name, email address and you’ll have the option to share a personalized message with them. BensonsLife will automatically send an invitation to your friend and let you know when they join your BensonsLife Circle. It’s that simple!

Is there a limit to the number of pictures I can upload to BensonsLife?

Nope. Add as many pictures as you’d like. Don’t forget to use tags (keywords) that will enable you to create and share dynamic photo galleries.

It is safe? Who can see my pictures and profile information?

BensonsLife is committed to keeping your personal information safe, secure and yours. Only those members who you accept into your Circle will be able to see your uploaded content (profiles, pictures, stories, etc).

Your registration information and personal content is never shared, sold, nor leased to any third party marketer without your explicit consent. You can read BensonsLife full Privacy Policy here.

Will I get annoying status updates from my friends like on other social networks?

Nope. BensonsLife facilitates sharing through meaningful social circles. You won’t receive random updates that are seemingly meaningless. You will receive notifications from Communities you are a member of, such as when someone comments on a discussion topic you’re involved with or a new Community event is posted.

You will have complete control over your notifications…if you want to receive fewer notifications from Communities you belong to, you are able to modify your notification settings at any time from your Account Settings page.

Why do I need to select a time zone?

Many features on BensonsLife are time stamped. Meaning, when you send a message, we include the time and date it was sent. By indicating your time zone, you will have an accurate time stamp for messages, notes, events and other communications. You can change your time zone settings (and other registration information) in your Account settings.

I forgot my password! How do I recover it?

Not to worry, it happens to the best of us! Simply click on “Forgot Password?” on the login page, enter the email address you registered with, and your password will be reset. BensonsLife will automatically generate a new unique password, which will be emailed to you at your registered email address. Use this new password to login, and don’t forget to change your password to something memorable on your “Account” page.

How does “Remember Me” work (login page)?

Checking the “Remember Me” box will allow you to bypass the login process when you next sign in from that computer. If you are using a public computer, do not check this box! If you would like to disable the “Remember Me” feature, simply Logout of your account and you will be required to provide your screen name and password next time you login.
